With the memory scale operation in Stream, this lead inflated to nearly 94% in favor of Ubuntu Linux.

Simple memory addition with Stream had Ubuntu 9.10 still well on top of FreeBSD 8.0.

Turning to some disk benchmarks with the Threaded I/O Tester, FreeBSD 8.0 has nice improvements over FreeBSD 7.2 when performing 32 threads of 64MB writes, but the latency is still over twice as high as what can be found with Ubuntu 9.10.
