There's some very weird performance regression for the Mac Mini when running C-Ray on OS X 10.8.0, but when comparing OS X 10.7.4 to the two Ubuntu Linux releases, OS X Lion came in performance-wise right between Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10.

Gzip compression was faster with OS X than Ubuntu.

The dcraw image conversion program was faster on Apple's operating system than Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Linux came out ahead with the Sudokut program.
