OS X 10.8 vs. Ubuntu Linux: A Battle With No Clear Winner

Ubuntu Linux had a slight advantage when running the 7-Zip compression benchmark.

While the 2011 Mac Mini with Xcode was faster at building software than GCC on Ubuntu, when GCC 4.7 from the HPC project was run on OS X, Ubuntu Linux was faster for building out software.

OS X was slightly faster than Ubuntu Linux from the Intel Core i5 laptop.
