OS X 10.8 vs. Ubuntu Linux: A Battle With No Clear Winner

While GCC 4.7 was being used on OS X for this MacBook Pro benchmarking, Ubuntu Linux was much faster with the MAFFT molecular biology workload when on GCC 4.6 (Ubuntu 12.04) and GCC 4.7 (Ubuntu 12.10) with benchmarking from the same hardware.

The Fhourstones performance was close between the tested versions of OS X and Ubuntu Linux.
