With the id Tech 4 Prey game the Radeon HD 6870 was running at the same speed as Catalyst when using the latest open-source driver code, the Radeon HD 6950 with open-source drivers was 73% the speed of Catalyst, and the Radeon HD 5830 was up to 93% the speed of Catalyst.

Reaction saw some improvements with the latest open-source driver configuration but there's still some optimizations left for the Radeon HD 5000/6000 series graphics cards before they will be running at the same speed.

Unigine Sanctuary was running nicely on the R600 Gallium3D driver stack under Ubuntu but still not quite to the Catalyst driver speeds.
