CPUFreq Scaling Tests With AMD's Kaveri On Linux 3.16
With the very basic OpenArena game the CPUfreq ondemand governor (the default on Ubuntu 14.04 for this hardware) was running the fastest along with the performance governor while the conservative and powersave governors led to noticeably slower performance.
The faster performance out of the ondemand and performance governors came from upclocking the A10-A7800 CPU cores more often than powersave (or never in the case of powersave) for OpenArena.
Using the ondemand and performance governors led to a 78 Watt average system power draw for this test while the conservative governor led to a 73 Watt system average and 68 Watts for the powersave mode.
On a performance-per-Watt basis, there wasn't a huge difference between the different governors.
