The Intel Core i7 3770K system was running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86_64 with the Linux 3.2 kernel. LuxMark was used as the main OpenCL benchmark for this quick article and the three OpenCL tests were run just on the CPU without support from the GPU when comparing the AMD APP SDK 2.6 and Intel OpenCL SDK 2012 v1.0.2 under Linux on the Ivy Bridge quad-core processor plus Hyper Threading.

Benchmarking was handled via the Phoronix Test Suite where it is as easy as running phoronix-test-suite benchmark luxmark for a fully automated experience from installation to execution. Results are stored and analyzed on OpenBenchmarking.org.
