Both the Bulldozer and Piledriver processors do well against the Intel hardware for NPB's Scalar Penta-diagonal solver as well as for the Unstructured Adaptive mesh, dynamic and irregular memory access test.

For the Dolfyn Computational Fluid Dynamics benchmark that leverages MPI, all of the AMD tested processors performed poorly against the Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors. The overclocked FX-8350 even came up short of Intel's Core i5 2400S for this particular test profile.

The LAMMPS results were similar to Dolfyn with regard to all of the tested AMD CPUs not performing as well as Intel for this heavily scientific test case. These tests were a very different story from the NAS Parallel Benchmarks.
