Two DisplayPort (v1.2) connectors along with one dual-link DVI connection are the outputs on this graphics card. The FirePro V5900 is AMD CrossFire compatible. This is yet another AMD graphics processor that supports Eyefinity technology, which makes it possible to take advantage of all available monitor outputs simultaneously.

The FirePro V5900 also supports AMD PowerTune for dynamically adjusting the GPU clock based upon the calculated load. "AMD PowerTune technology is very different from existing and previous methods; rather than setting highest state GPU clock speeds based on a worst case TDP approach that can compromise performance in a majority of applications, AMD PowerTune technology can dynamically adjust the performance profile in real time to fit within the TDP envelope."

Another new technology to the FirePro V5900 (and also the FirePro V7900) is AMD GeometryBoost. The GeometryBoost technology is designed to greatly enhance the speed at which geometry data is processed, up to twice the rate of the previous-generation FirePro units. "AMD GeometryBoost has been accomplished by putting in place a dual graphics engine architecture which allows graphics workloads to be divided and dispatched for processing in a highly efficient manner."
