Officially kicking off JavaOne 2007 was Sun's Executive VP, Rich Green, announcing JavaFX, JavaFX Scripting, JavaFX Mobile, performance improvements coming to Java SE 6, and Java now fully entering the open-source community with the release of the OpenJDK. Showcased during this keynote were a variety of different gadgets running JavaFX, a snippet of JavaFX code, NASDAQ embracing Real Time Java, Ericsson opening some of its source-code, and "Engineers Without Borders" in conjunction with the United Nations.
