When it comes to computer cases at Phoronix, no micro ATX chassis has ever received as much attention and excitement as SilverStone's Sugo SG01. While this product is soon turning a year old, it is exceptionally well designed and remains one of the top cases to date. It is roughly the same size as a Shuttle PC, but does not use proprietary hardware and offers a variety of unique features. The SilverStone Sugo SG02 was supposed to be out this fall, but it ended up being phased out prior to its public introduction and instead the engineering efforts were focused on the SG03. The SilverStone Sugo SG03 will be introduced this month at CeBit, and with a bit of luck the Sugo SG01 replacement will start shipping next month! We have been waiting for a new contender in the Sugo series and we are looking to review it next month.

Prior to the SilverStone Sugo SG03 introduction, we have decided to look at the SilverStone Sugo SG01W. The SG01W is similar to the Sugo SG01 and SG01 Evolution, but the W signifies a model with two windows! Now with the SG01W you have the excellent attributes of the SG01 Evolution while having two windows for showing off your hardware as well as the innards of this chassis. Along with the Sugo SG01W we will be looking at the SilverStone Element ST50EF-Plus SC power supply.

Features:

· Cleanly styled aluminum front panel and body
· Enhanced cooling layout for high performance
· Dual 5.25” and 3.5” drive bays
· Micro ATX motherboard & ATX PSU compatible
· Full size expansion slots
· Extra large acrylic side windows
· SG01B-W receives black interior treatment

Contents:

Like the Temjin TJ09 and past SilverStone cases, the SG01W was well packaged and arrived at our United States location safely. Included with the Sugo was the case itself, mounting hardware, and SilverStone's user manual. The SG01 case was positioned between two Styrofoam blocks and is wrapped in a heavy gauge plastic bag. With the SG01W there are two separate SKUs -- one with a silver exterior and the other is black. Not only is the exterior black with the SG01B-W, but the inside is also painted black! This is certainly a nice detail to see with the two side windows exposing the inside of the case. The case we are looking at is the SG01B-W.
