While NVIDIA has made some gains with the 1.0-8XXX series when it comes to implementing new changes, there were not any major frame-rate performance gains throughout these Linux driver upgrades with all of the benchmarks. We had seen some surprising Enemy Territory frame-rate boosts; however, in the remainder of the GPU benchmarks the performance delta was minimal. There were a few areas where between the 1.0-8174 and 1.0-8762 drivers that there was a noticeable gain, and there may be other performance gains outside of our testing selection. If enough information can be acquired from our sources, we will be doing a 1.0-9XXX series preview as we had done with the 1.0-8XXX series back in September last year. While NVIDIA has been relatively quiet up to this point, the 1.0-9XXX series will support the GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension. We would not expect NVIDIA to release the Rel90 Linux display drivers before August or September; however, more information will be passed along upon acquiring information.
