In our testing, the Hotdrive HD-201U2 had a mere 3MB/s timed read advantage over the Laureate EB205U-S but on the other hand, the Enermax had won both of the write tests for a single file copy as well as the multiple file copy. Keeping in mind of course that the results may vary depending upon the HDD used inside the external enclosure. In addition to its competitive performance, the Laureate features its useful travel pouch, durable aluminum construction, and incredibly small size. At a MSRP of merely $22 USD for the Enermax Laureate EB205U-S, the enclosure is definitely a cost effective product. Even considering the present going price of 2.5" HDDs, the enclosure makes the device one effective external storage medium compared against present day flash drives and diminutive storage solutions such as Seagate's 5GB Pocket Drive. With Enermax being in business since 1990, and our feelings from this device today, we have full faith in recommending the product.
