There we have it, a total of nine different products for cooling/silencing any computer system, but as used in our scenario to silence a HTPC/SOHO server. Once we had everything installed, we achieved near silent results. The CoolJag heatsink with the AcoustiFan 60mm fan, 92mm intake fan, and dual 60mm SilverStone exhaust fans with gel mounts; led to a very competitive combination. In addition, the Tyan Tomcat i7221A (S5151) motherboard offers improvements in the thermal-mechanical design of the motherboard over the previous Tomcat i7221 (S5150). The power supply we also chose to use, the Silentmaxx 580W IC-Tech, provided more than enough power to the system while keeping to a silent experience. Overall, we were pleased with all the products we featured today as they stuck together to create an incredibly silent computer system. Keep in mind, what we featured here in this article is just the basics of some products available for silencing computer systems. Once again, thanks goes out to our sponsors who contributed their products for this article - QuietPC, Scythe, Prime Cooler, SelectCool, SilverStone, and Tyan. Look for reviews on the SilverStone LC-14 HTPC chassis and Tyan Tomcat i7221A (S5151) motherboard to be available in the very near future at Phoronix.
