Taking a peek at the Prime Cooler instruction manual, we were quite surprised to see the quality of the content contained in this small manual. With this six-page manual, it contains nearly every possible situation a user may experience when they're installing this cooling system. The diagrams even show the wrong way of mounting the heatsink in addition to the proper methods. As the installation instructions were so well documented, we will simply go over the basics of the install process.
After removing any existing VPU heatsink, make sure the VPU core is properly cleaned so there are no traits left of the previous thermal paste or even oils from human skin, which can also interfere with the thermal dissipation. For cleaning, we prefer Isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
With a clean VPU core, thinly and evenly apply the included, or aftermarket, thermal paste onto the base of the heatsink. Next, we attached the front-side heatsink to the VPU. After the front-side heatsink is firmly attached, it is then time to attach the backside heatsink.
Afterwards, attach the two larger heatsinks to their respective sides. Keeping these large heatsinks in place is the single heatpipe in addition to the two plate links.
Overall, the installation of the Prime Cooler PC-VGAHP 1 was very easy and only took a matter of minutes. When we were installing the cooler on an ATI RADEON 9200, we encountered absolutely no troubles with properly mounting the heatsinks.
