TrueOS vs. DragonFlyBSD vs. GhostBSD vs. FreeBSD vs. PacBSD Benchmarks
For a basic disk test was Compile Bench with its initial create sub-test to measure the disk throughput during this testing. Not all of the BSDs properly ran this test but regardless GhostBSD and TrueOS were well behind the two Linux options: Ubuntu and Clear Linux. For those unfamiliar with Clear Linux, it's a project by Intel's Open-Source Technology Center and aims for high-performance out-of-the-box experience and is particularly aimed for workstation / containers / data center workloads.
Clear Linux was again the front-runner for this test, turning to CPU workloads. The Rodinia OpenMP workload was fastest on Clear Linux given its aggressive default compiler flags. DragonFlyBSD 4.6 was second fastest while the Clang-using BSDs were the slowest.
Interestingly, PacBSD, FreeBSD, and GhostBSD were the fastest when it came to the FFTW workload followed by Clear Linux and Ubuntu, then in last were TrueOS and DragonFlyBSD.
