2007 Linux Graphics Survey Results
For the past month we had been running the 2007 Linux Graphics Survey at Phoronix where we polled users to find out what display hardware they use, what their driver choice(s) are, and their other preferences as it pertains to Linux desktop users on the visual front. We received over 20,000 submissions from this survey and have the results to share with you on this Thanksgiving here in the United States.

Which type(s) of video adapters do you use in your Linux system(s)?

Dedicated - PCI: 5.32%
Dedicated - AGP: 30.53%
Dedicated - PCI-E: 30.46%
Integrated - Desktop: 9.51%
Integrated - Notebook: 24.16%
AGP graphics cards were more popular than PCI Express by less than a tenth of a percent. After the PCI Express and AGP usage each at 30%, 24% of the respondents were using integrated graphics on a notebook while integrated graphics on a desktop was under 10%.

ATI: 32.01%
NVIDIA: 47.57%
Matrox: 1.50%
SiS / XGI: 1.65%
Other: 1.94%
In the war between NVIDIA and ATI/AMD, NVIDIA was the clear winner in regards to the level of adoption across Linux systems. Matrox and SiS / XGI each had less than 2% of the Linux market share.
