DragonflyBSD 3.0 vs. Debian GNU/kFreeBSD Wheezy

Posted by Michael Larabel on June 28, 2012

Continuing from the theme of the tests a few days back benchmarking Wheezy: Debian GNU/kFreeBSD vs. Debian GNU/Linux, here are some new numbers. Here's some brief numbers concerning Debian GNU/kFreeBSD versus DragonflyBSD 3.0.2.

Originally I had planned for a much larger *BSD comparison instead, but the latest releases of OpenBSD and NetBSD were having issues with the Intel Core i7 3960X Extreme Edition paired with the Intel DX79SI motherboard. At that time the Debian GNU/kFreeBSD "Wheezy" from the FreeBSD 9.0 kernel and DragonflyBSD 3.0.2 tests were already complete, so I'm just tossing these numbers out there for those interested. The proper BSD comparison will be restarted from a different platform where hopefully no BSD hardware issues will be encountered. (On a related hardware compatibility note, see Intel Ivy Bridge Borked On FreeBSD, Debian BSD.)

The results in full from this brief Core i7 3960X Extreme benchmarking on BSD can be found on OpenBenchmarking.org.

The stock components for each platform...
