There was exciting OpenGL 3/4 news yesterday for Mesa when it came to early but yet-to-be-merged support for OpenGL geometry shaders
, but that's not all the new Mesa GL news this week. Patches were also published to provide support for OpenGL Core contexts for OpenGL 3.1 and newer.
A new set of seven patches were published to the Mesa development list to provide support for Desktop GL Core contexts. For applications/games requesting the OpenGL core functionality of OpenGL 3.1+, the legacy/deprecated/non-core functions will not be permitted for use.
Future patch-sets to Mesa will complete the support for being able to create API_OPENGL_CORE contexts as introduced by these current patches by Jordan Justen of Intel.
The patches for this new Mesa support can be found here
until they are merged to the mainline Mesa Git repository.
