Linux 2.6.29-rc5 Kernel Released

Work on the Linux 2.6.29 kernel is slowly winding down, and as a sign of that, Linus Torvalds had announced the release of Linux 2.6.29-rc5. This fifth release candidate has nearly 90% of the changes within the network drivers section due to a bnx2 firmware update and then nearly 5% from a staging USB driver. The Linux 2.6.29 kernel delivers on Intel kernel mode-setting, brings forth the Btrfs file-system, carries a few EXT4 updates, has mainline SquashFS support, and this kernel also has initial 802.16 WiMax support. This kernel, however, will not make its way into Ubuntu 9.04.
