Linux 3.5-rc6: Getting Close To Final

Linus Torvalds released the Linux 3.5-rc6 kernel on Saturday night.

The bulk of the release message concerning this sixth RC release of the Linux 3.5 kernel comes down to "Another week, another -rc. And happily, another week of calming down. Noticeably fewer commits in here than in -rc5, and I think we're getting closer to a final release."

The remainder of the message comes down to alerting developers about the Linux 3.6 kernel merge window. For those developers taking holiday in August, if you will be away, Linus suggests possibly just delaying the work until the Linux 3.7 kernel rather than dropping a lot into Linux 3.6. With that said, Linus is thinking that the Linux 3.6 kernel may be a calm release to end out the summer.
