RPM 4.10 Release Supports The Tilde, 7-Zip

Posted by Michael Larabel on May 26, 2012

Version 4.10 of RPM has been released with many new features.

RPM 4.10 supports the Debian packaging (dpkg) style sort of tilde in versioning (e.g. when appending ~beta to a package string), 7-Zip compressed package sources, improved validity and consistency checks, support for determining conflicts within an RPM package itself, and overall robustness improvements.

More information on the RPM 4.10 release is available from the release announcement although the more verbose information is found on the RPM.org Wiki.
