The beta of the open webOS is now available for testing.
In Open webOS August Edition
, the beta release is finally announced for the HP open-source project.
We delivered on our promise
It has taken a lot of hard work, long hours and weekend sacrifices by our engineering team to deliver on our promise and we have accomplished this goal.
The Beta release is comprised of 54 webOS components available as opensource. This brings over 450,000 lines of code released under the Apache 2.0 license, which is one of the most liberal and accepted in the open source community.
The beta build of the webOS Project inckudes a desktop build as well as one based upon OpebEmbedded for porting the once promising Linux mobile operating system to "new and exciting devices."
The new OpenEmbedded build includes an ARM emulator and are actively working on the core image with the full webOS experience. The developers behind the project are encouraging the community to get involved.
