Ubuntu's Unity Desktop Comes To Fedora 17

Posted by Michael Larabel on July 18, 2012

For those not liking the GNOME Shell, KDE, Xfce, or one of the other desktop environments already available on Fedora 17, Ubuntu's Unity is now available.

The Ubuntu Unity desktop hasn't been pushed into the Fedora package repository, but via work done by external parties and pushed over the openSUSE Build Service, GNOME:Ayatana / Unity is now available.

The package repository for those interested in the Fedora 17 components can find it at download.opensuse.org.

The port to Fedora 17 is using Unity 5.12 and Compiz 0.9.7.8. Below are a few screenshots of Unity on Fedora 17, which were sent by one of the involved developers to Phoronix.
