Windows 10 Creators WSL vs. Clear Linux vs. Ubuntu 17.04

While Microsoft has made some made some improvements to boost the I/O of WSL, it still appears to be lagging behind that of Ubuntu natively with EXT4. Clear Linux with its aggressive focus on performance was slightly faster than Ubuntu 17.04 for SQLite.

Running Stream as a RAM benchmark showed close to the same performance under WSL as it was with Clear Linux and Ubuntu 17.04.

John The Ripper also shows that in pure CPU-focused workloads, WSL on Windows 10 Creators Update is similar to native Linux installations.
