The stress-ng micro-benchmarks show that the Windows 10 Linux subsystem doesn't actually have that much overhead, unless their kernel is that much faster to make up for the overhead differences.

CompileBench was one of the few workloads where Ubuntu Bash on Windows 10 lost by a large margin, with still relying upon the NTFS file-system where as the Linux distributions had EXT4.
