GNOME Shell and Xfce remained to be the fastest desktops when running the Lightsmark OpenGL lighting benchmark. For the NVIDIA binary driver there was a great spread this time around but in the end it was the GNOME Shell and Xfce desktops that offered the best "out of the box" performance. GNOME Shell, Xfce, and GNOME Classic were the fastest with the open-source Radeon graphics driver. The release of the Catalyst driver in the Precise repository is broken for Lightsmark so there are no results on that binary driver.
