The expansion slots on the Tyan Thunder n3600M include two PCI Express x16, one PCI, and three PCI-X slots. Unfortunately due to the NVIDIA nForce Professional 3600 only providing 28 PCI-E lanes, each of these PCI Express x16 slots are limited to x8 bandwidth. The two PCI Express slots are separated by the lone PCI slot. The ASICs between the expansion slots and the edge of the PCB include a Marvell 88E1121 for dual Gigabit ethernet networking, SMSC SCH5017 Super I/O, and an ATI ES1000 IGP with 32MB of Hynix memory for its frame buffer.

Above the expansion slots are the remaining eight DDR2-667 slots. Last but not least is the second CPU socket. The Tyan Thunder n3600M fully supports the latest AMD Opteron Quad-Core "Barcelona" processors and is backwards compatible with earlier dual-core Socket F Opterons.

The I/O panel ports on the Thunder n3600M include two PS/2, two USB 2.0, one COM, one VGA D-Sub, and two Gigabit ethernet. This motherboard has neither integrated audio nor IEEE-1394 Firewire. The Thunder n3600M is an extended ATX motherboard sized at 12" x 13".
