Installation & Performance:

Loading up the SilverStone Lascala LC13-E we had used an ASUS P5E64 WS Professional Workstation motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor, 2GB of OCZ DDR3 memory, Western Digital Serial ATA hard drive, Lite-On Serial ATA DVD burner, OCZ EliteXStream 800W power supply, Spire LGA-775 heatsink, and dual ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB graphics cards. And yes, it was an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS machine.

This system build had gone smooth installing the motherboard and related components until it had come time to install the drives. Due to the longer than normal length of the ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics cards, it had obstructed the middle 3.5" drive cage from housing the Western Digital SATA drive. The graphics cards were simply too long for this case. Fortunately since we were just using one hard drive and no external 3.5" drive bays, we had simply moved the drive to the other cage and left the middle cage uninstalled. This is a bit of a problem that these graphics cards cannot fit in this case, but granted of course this case is targeted at the HTPC market and there aren't as many users running these longer-length graphics cards in a PC geared for media playback.

Aside from the graphics card issue, the build had gone smooth and we hadn't run into any problems. Cable management with the LC13-E was satisfactory and similar to the other Lascala models. Once powering up this PC we hadn't run into any noise or airflow issues.
