SilverStone RM42-502 + IceGem 240P Allow For A Great Rackmount 4U Water Cooling Setup
When running a variety of Phoronix Test Suite benchmarks over the span of 11 benchmarks, the system monitoring module was enabled for monitoring all of the key exposed temperature sensors under Linux. The "Rosewill 4U + NZXT AIO" was the prior TR 3970X configuration (and with the 4 x 120mm fans), the "SilverStone + NZXT AIO" was transitioning to the RM42-502 but keeping with the big NZXT AIO setup, and then lastly was the RM42-502 + IceGem 240P with just the dual 120mm fans.
The Threadripper 3970X was operating much more comfortably in this new SilverStone configuration....
The Radeon RX 5700 also enjoyed a lower peak temperature.
The other temperatures were also in good shape with this SilverStone RM42-502 with IceGem 240P.
More data from this testing can be found over on OpenBenchmarking.org.
Particularly if wanting a water-cooled 4U rackmount configuration but really for any high-end 4U workstation/server setup, the SilverStone RM42-02 is a very interesting chassis that can work comfortably with the likes of the IceGem 240P and other 240mm water cooling setups while still offering enough space for up to a SSI/EEB motherboard and several graphics cards while being able to sufficiently cool HEDT hardware like the latest AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors.
