Radeon Ubuntu Linux Users Have A Lot To Gain By Upgrading Mesa
Not much to see out of OpenArena.
Last but not least, ET: Legacy also sees much higher frame-rates with Mesa 13.0.2 and newer.
It's a pity that Ubuntu doesn't send down new stable Mesa releases as SRUs given the impact on their performance and usability for newer Linux games to run on the open-source driver stack. These results show even upgrading to the Mesa stable PPA is still very much worthwhile if you don't want to risk running Mesa 13.1-devel. With Linux 4.10 over Linux 4.8, with the benchmarks run the Radeon RX 480 didn't see much of a performance benefit. Hope you found these numbers useful if you've been weighing upgrading your Mesa stack on Ubuntu or similar non-rolling release distributions.
