RHEL 6.0 Beta 2 WS came out with its first win when it came to measuring the time needed to compress a 256MB file using LZMA. RHEL 6.0 Beta 2 was noticeably quicker than openSUSE, CentOS, and Ubuntu, which all took close to the same amount of time to complete this task.

CentOS 5.5 exhibited strong performance with the initial create test in the Compile Bench program, possibly due to its use of EXT3, where as Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and openSUSE 11.3 RC2 were close for second and behind them was RHEL 6.0 Beta 2 WS.

TTSIOD 3D Renderer is a phong rendering with soft-shadow mapping benchmark that solely utilizes the CPU and not the GPU. The performance of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and openSUSE 11.3 RC2 was abnormally strong while CentOS 5.5 and RHEL 6.0 Beta 2 struggled significantly.
