With the Thelio Major under test having the Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics, one of the immediate areas where Pop!_OS 20.04 makes a big deal over 19.10 is with the graphics driver support. For any systems with AMD Radeon graphics, transitioning to 20.04 means a newer Mesa release providing better (and generally faster) Radeon Vulkan and OpenGL performance. Intel graphics stand to benefit too from Mesa 20.0 found on Pop!_OS/Ubuntu 20.04 albeit not tested in this article today.

For many of the heavy, source-based scientific workloads there isn't much of a difference with both 19.10 and 20.04 relying on the GCC 9 compiler.
