OpenSUSE 11.3 Netbook Benchmarks

openSUSE 11.3 inched ahead with the OpenMP-based GraphicsMagick benchmark.

Not only does openSUSE 11.3 have better OpenGL support with its newer Mesa stack than Ubuntu, but it also has dramatically better 2D performance. The Intel 2.12 X.Org driver used by openSUSE offers many performance improvements along its 2D/UXA acceleration paths.

The openSUSE 11.3 release is rather nice for many different reasons from its installation support for Btrfs to offering a great level of performance. Most of the wins for openSUSE 11.3 are due to this brand new release carrying more updated core components like the Linux 2.6.34 kernel, GCC 4.5, and Mesa 7.8.2, which gives it an upper-hand over Fedora 13, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and other Linux distributions that are a bit older.
