The ZFS-based operating systems ran far behind the EXT4-based Linux operating systems with the PostMark disk benchmark. Strangely though, the Fedora 14 performance was behind Ubuntu 10.10 even though both use the Linux 2.6.35 kernel with the EXT4 module.

The Linux and BSD operating systems were a few seconds faster than the OpenSolaris ones at extracting the Linux kernel source package.

OpenIndiana and Augustiner-Schweinshaxe were slightly faster than the rest when it came to Local Adaptive Thresholding with the OpenMP-oriented GraphicsMagick program.

At simple image resizing with GraphicsMagick, however, the BSD and Linux operating systems returned to the front.
