ARM Cortex A15 Exynos 5 Dual Comparison

To no real surprise, the Jetson TK1 development board was much faster than the Samsung Exynos 5 Dual SoC in the Samsung Chromebook, which has only two Cortex-A15 cores. The Jetson TK1 was over four times faster than the NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC within the Cardhu tablet; unfortunately that's my only Tegra 3 system and don't have access to any Tegra 4 hardware. With the Dolfyn computational workload, the Tegra K1 still came up short of the Intel Core i3 330M.

I don't have any power consumption or performance-per-Watt numbers done in time for this article, but that data will be coming, although NVIDIA admits the Jetson TK1 ARM development board is designed more for raw ARM performance than being optimized for mobile scenarios.

The Tegra K1 is certainly stronger than the old Intel Atoms: N270, Z530, and D525 hardware. Future Jetson TK1 articles will also feature newer Bay Trail class Intel Celeron/Atom SoCs.
