The NVIDIA GPUs Delivering The Best Performance Per Watt & Per Dollar For Linux Gamers
First up is Team Fortress 2 when running at 4K, since at 1080p the results were all just CPU limited. Except for the GTX 750 Ti, all NVIDIA graphics cards tested were delivering well above 60 FPS averages in this configuration.
The system power consumption is across the board, but the Phoronix Test Suite condenses it into the better performance-per-Watt form for an easy look:
The cards delivering the best performance-per-Watt for Team Fortress 2 at 4K were the GTX 970 and GTX 980.
Meanwhile, in looking at the performance-per-dollar based on reported costs, the GTX 750 Ti and 950 FTW / 960 were leading. The GTX 750 Ti didn't offer a playable frame-rate for TF2 at 4K but the GTX 950 and 960 did.
On a related note, here's a look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Linux at 1080p followed by 4K:
Obviously any of the tested NVIDIA GPUs could run CS:GO with ease at 1080p. When it came to the best performance-per-dollar and performance-per-Watt, it was around the GeForce GTX 960.
For Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at 4K, the GTX 960 was still leading with being the best value but here the higher-end graphics cards were delivering better power efficiency.
