To not much surprise, when comparing the performance of the MSI X99A Workstation motherboard to older X99 products like the MSI X99S SLI PLUS, the performance is basically the same as expected.

MSI X99 Motherboard Testing

I ran some reference tests with the same hardware between these two MSI X99A motherboards when running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. If you'd like to see those basic results those numbers can be found via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file.

While I've only had a few weeks so far using the MSI X99A Workstation motherboard, it's been working out well and haven't encountered any issues yet -- Linux related or not.

Those interested in the MSI X99A Workstation for a possible LGA-2011 v3 build can find this high-end workstation motherboard for $399 USD at Amazon.com or at NewEgg.com it's currently listed for $408 USD.

Thanks to MSI Computer for sending over this motherboard for Linux testing and review. Stay tuned for more testing from this MSI X99 motherboard on Phoronix in the near future.
