With demanding OpenGL workloads -- like what's presented with Unigine Heaven -- gaming at 3840 x 2160 is impossible with current-generation hardware. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti and GTX TITAN were managing average frame-rates of 19 FPS at the 4K resolution. The Radeon R9 290 with its current Linux driver performance issues was at 12 FPS, just 2 FPS ahead of the GTX 770. The Radeon HD 7850 was struggling greatly at the extreme resolution and had a one frame per second average.

The Unigine Valley results are similar and cause devastating frame-rates at 3840 x 2160 on Ubuntu Linux.

Next we turn to some lighter OpenGL Linux games that are open-source and not nearly as demanding as Unigine.
