When dealing with four threads of FS-Mark and many sub-directories, the only (safe) mount options to offer significantly better performance were the LZO and Zlib compression, albeit at the cost of slightly higher CPU usage.

Space caching, no data copy-on-write, auto-defrag, and free inode cache led to small performance drops with the initial create test inside Compile Bench. Meanwhile, the transparent file-system compression led to the best results.
