Linux 3.7 File-System Benchmarks: EXT4, Btrfs, XFS
For the FIO workload, EXT4 was the fastest on this high-end SSD while XFS came in a distant second place and Btrfs was by far the slowest file-system on the Intel hardware.
For the various FS-Mark benchmarks, the three popular Linux file-systems were much more competitive with each other while EXT4 still generally wound up on top. For these FS-Mark tests there does appear to be some small performance improvements with Linux 3.7 (or potentially Linux 3.6) over the Linux 3.5 kernel.
