There wasn't much change out of the GpuTest results for the four AMD Radeon graphics cards tested on Linux 3.18 vs. Linux 3.19. There's no breakthrough performance gains to find with AMD graphics hardware on Linux 3.19, but at least there's new features. The AMDKFD driver was merged to start the open-source HSA support for AMD APUs on Linux, DPM fan control support is finally in place for newer GPUs, and there's various other fixes and optimizations. Going forward, 2015 should be very exciting for open-source AMD graphics once the new AMDGPU kernel driver premieres and other interesting items on the road-map. In user-space, Mesa/Gallium3D should finally reach OpenGL 4.0 support in the next few months and AMD's work on open-source OpenCL support is also maturing.
