With John The Ripper, openSUSE was performing noticeably slower than all of the other Linux distributions. It's possible openSUSE's slowdown is due to sticking to the older GCC 4.8 series rather than GCC 5.x, but Linux Mint is also on the older GCC 4.8 too.

There wasn't too much variation in the results with x264.
