GIMP is another real-world application we have found to run slower with Linux 4.15, but it's still performing better (or at least comparable in some cases) than some of the older Linux kernel releases.

The socket activity synthetic benchmark from Stress-NG shows Linux 4.15 dropping to its lowest level of the tested kernels.

The context switching performance is also lower due to the KPTI/Retpoline patches.
