First up with the SQLite benchmark it's good to see the fastest performance is indeed with the latest tested kernel: Linux 4.9 Git as of last week. Compared to Linux 3.9, there is a 25% improvement. As a reminder, all tests were done with an EXT4 file-system.

When running FIO, Linux 4.9 was also at its prime for the random read performance.

... and random writes.

But the FIO sequential reads was in line with the past kernels (ignoring Linux 4.8 regressing) but behind Linux 3.14 being an outlier.
