openSUSE Tumbleweed and Clear Linux were running the fastest with the 7-Zip compression benchmark.

While when it comes to the time to build out the Linux kernel, openSUSE Leap 42.3 was finishing its stock x86_64 kernel build slightly quicker than the rest. Fedora Server 27 and Ubuntu 18.04 were taking a few seconds longer than the others, which notably are using GCC 7, but Clear Linux's use of GCC 7 hadn't caused a slowdown for this build-linux-kernel test profile.

OpenSUSE secured some additional wins with C-Ray and Gzip compression.

The encoding race was tight with this KVM testing from the Intel Core i9 7980XE system.
