Intel Sandy Bridge RC6 Is Good To Go
When idling, having the "standard" RC6 support dropped the power consumption of this Sandy Bridge laptop by about 26%. However, when enabling the deep/deepest RC6 levels there was not any other significant reduction in power consumption.
When running Lightsmark with RC6 enabled, the power consumption is about 28% higher than without RC6. However, the performance is notably better as a result. The Lightsmark frame-rate performance is up by about 30%. Like the idle results, the deep/deepest RC6 states had little affect on the performance or power consumption.
