Intel Sandy Bridge Performance Goes Up Again
The above graph is from the Intel Core i3 2100 again. The results are even more promising than OpenArena, since with Nexuiz the experience goes from being unplayable for the i3-2100 on the Linux 2.6.38 kernel even at 800 x 600 to now being playable. The performance has more than doubled in several instances. With Nexuiz on the i3-2100 it's an 82.5% boost in performance between the 2.6.38 and 2.6.39-rc1 kernels, but when adding in the LLC caching, the frame-rate goes up by another 14%.
It's a similar experience with the Core i5 2500K. On average the frame-rate is up by 2.2x with the LLC caching compared to where the performance is at with the stable Linux 2.6.38 kernel. At 1920 x 1080, however, the Core i5 2500K graphics are still not playable with Nexuiz using these high quality settings.
