Linux 3.1 Enhances Sandy Bridge, Preps For Ivy Bridge

While there is now frame-buffer compression (FBC) enabled by default in Linux 3.1, the power consumption goes higher when running OpenArena on the latest kernel compared to the Linux 3.0 kernel.

This was also the case for the Warsow game, but at least the power consumption is down compared to Linux 2.6.39.

The OpenGL performance with the Linux 3.1 kernel is certainly up for Intel Sandy Bridge graphics thanks to LLC, there's also other improvements such as better supporting HDMI/DisplayPort and frame-buffer compression, but the power consumption is still not ideal but will hopefully be ironed out for the Linux 3.2 kernel.
