With the two disk benchmarks run, Debian Jessie Testing was faster than all tested configurations of Ubuntu 14.04. Worth noting is that Jessie's Linux 3.14 kernel defaults to using the CFQ I/O scheduler whereas Ubuntu defaults to the deadline scheduler.

To no real surprise for the graphics performance, in nearly all cases, the newer the kernel and Mesa components the better the OpenGL performance when dealing with the open-source Linux drivers.

In some cases there is no major change in performance with graphics stack upgrades depending upon the driver, etc.
